the curves that define the patterns of the cloth were in front and back on the character and a seam connect those panels, is this a genral rule? or could be a case where I have to create curves in the side view of the character, and then connect the front curves to the side curves and the side curves to the back curves?
I have seen patterns of t-shirts in real cloth and I don't know if I have to translate those patterns to specific patterns created with curves only at front and back of the caracter, for example, a collar...any suggestion?

You would be surprised how much mayacloth is sensitive to small changes to your panels. I worked with designers interested in adapting MC to use, and it is surprisingly accurate (one of the oddities)
You may need to break up the patterns to fit them onto your model, but make sure they are planar and that the curves form a continuous loop. Then stitch and simulate.
Collars - model first, then simulate your cloth, then attach using wrap deformer. Do not simulate collars.
