Hey. Hope everyone's doing good :)! I'm trying to create a slimy/jelly/wet look for a monster I'm working on. It's pretty similar to B.O.B from Dreamworks "Monsters vs Aliens." In fact if possible I'd love to be able to get that exact look. I'm using Maya 2012 and rendering with Mental ray. I've been using Maya for about a year and a half now, I know my way around it but I'm still a newb, so please don't yet aggravated if I ask an obvious question. I've had a go myself using mia_materialx with a fractal map to break up the specular, and a ramp shader plugged into a sampler info to generate a rim light and facing ratio. I've also included an AO and SSS pass in my composit. If anyone could give me some direction on how to move forward on the look dev I'd really appreciate it. Theres a basic colour pass plugged in, but its just an indication really. I'd love to nail the shader painting more into it.
Here's what I'm trying to achieve http://www.superiorpics.com/seth\_rogen/movie-picture/2009\_monsters\_vs\_aliens\_035\_big.html
(or equally google bob monsters vs aliens)
