Add Sound To Animation

I created an Animation in maya (format avi and mpeg). Now I am looking for a programm to add sound
to the animation. You can already make it with maya, but it seemed very circuitous, so i decided to do it with another software programm. Can anybody approve a programm for this work?? Are there free programms? Please help me, i am at a loss... I do not know in which forum i have to post this topic...

I assume what you mean is that you want to embed an existing audio track? (Versus a program to create and/or edit sound?).

Any editing app. such as Final Cut or Premiere will let you do this, as can After Effects.

But I'm sure there are many other simpler apps out there that will do it as well. Quicktime Pro may even let you do it, but you'll have nowhere near the level of control over the sound -- such as precise positioning in the timeline, audio effects etc., that you'll get with a more advanced application.
