Hi,

I would like to hear the comments of AdvancedSkeleton.

Do you recommend it ?

Does it flexible enough to let me customize the setup ?

Thanks for any comment.

actually.. automation isn't really the lazy man's way out.. it's the only way to do massive amounts of work w/out killing yourself.

setting up an initial rig is definitly an artform.. but once you have one you like.. geezus, automate the hell out of it. Or else you'll find yourself doing the same damn thing over and over and over and over...

Agreed but you will need to consider betveen using a pre-exsisting rig an building a new one. If the old rig does the trick then, hell use it. If it doesnt make a new better one.

But you should not trust in rigs you doent know intimately, otherwise you will not know how to enhance them.

Allways be on a lookout for better solutions.

Yes, It's a fantastic script....
You can't rig animals, just humans (or animals who are like humans:)
I use it all the time...

why? Because :
-You can change the structure of the skeleton, so you are not restricted to the base skeleton (change to 2 fingers, add nails, remove some joints if you want, etc...)
-You can customize all scripts, and add some control features easly (Im not programmer, and I succes to customize all the advSkel scripts!!
-The base skeleton is fantastic : hand rotations, etc...
-The Skeleton selector is very powerfull (easy to use and customize)

So you have all the advantage of an autmatisation (speed) without disadvantage (not restricted tools...)

I drink 3D all morning...

Perhaps I should have clarified that using a stock setup is fine...as long as it is your own...

How are you to learn anything until you do it from scratch...as well, there are so many different rigs depending on desired animation, deformation, games vs. film, etc...

and, YES I do automate the process...not the actual skeleton, but scripts aid me in mirroring, re-naming contraints, expressions, etc...

thanks for your reply...have fun with your LOTR! it looks amazing...congrats!

PS: I know a dude named Colin at WETA, met him at Sheridan...his last name is on the tip of my tongue (I think it is Doncaster?)...Do you know him?
