Ae On 64bit Windows Xp

We are looking into getting some new workstations and want to run Windows XP 64bit.

Although Adobe doesn't officially certify it, in theory it should run ok.

Anyone have any feedback - good or bad - on running it on 64bit XP?

as much as i'm going to be slated for this i think you'll have better luck with vista 64 bit than xp 64.
more drivers and better 32 bit support. if you're running intel core 2 duo's ,amd 64 or pentium 4 with emt 64 you'll have a slight performance hit as the 32bit instructions are processed, this is because the windows on windows system that runs 32 bit programs on 64 bit windows doesn't combine instructions as does native 32 bit windows.

At our facility, we've upgraded 5 machines from x32 xp to x64 xp pro with the newest intel Nahalem processor with supporting components. Overall it's been a great decision. Aside from the few bugs that proper installers worked out, everything seems to be running in a great manner. We've had better luck with these XP x64 machines running AE than vista's 64 bit OS. Back in June our x64 Vista machines lacked driver support and applications crashed a lot.

Only problem is that theres EVEN worse driver support for a 64 bit xp than 64 bit vista. Never had any driver problems ith the 64 bit vista. But plenty with th 64 bit xp. Aklos the 64 bit xp is going nowhere soon or ever at this pace.

I've been running AE CS3 on xp64 for about a year now. The app itself works well though makes no use of 64-bit potential.

My only word of caution has to do with the AJA Xena card, their driver doesn't work properly, and AJA doesn't care. That means you can't get video monitor output working smoothly. Frames drop out / screen goes black / video stops updating. Useless.

we have i7 + xp64 and cs4 makes constant pain in ass - first we had no luck to launch AFX and PPro - they crashed on startup.. then we disabled some io plugins and they started to run, however we were not able to use Encoder.. so we switched back to cs3, which is more stable, yet still we do encoding on another granny P4 workstation.
seems that Adobe does not care about 64bits, at least i couldnt find any fully working solution yet. vista could be solution, but then you should think that great percentage of resources will be consumed by vista itself.. cant wait for win7 and its compatibility.
