I can open maya fine...but when i go to open a file via "file-open" it instantley closes down with no error message...
this resulted in me draging the desired file into the maya workspace...the file opened fine....however when i went to save, the same thing happened...maya closed down instantley with no warning message. any ideas?
i did retrieve this error message from the script editor when i re-opened maya...
// Warning: Your system does not have hardware accelerated OpenGL, or your driver is not configured properly. Maya will continue to run, but you will get significantly better performance with accelerated hardware. //

// Result: ./untitled //

so i followed up a similar problem on the autodesk forum (http://discussion.autodesk.com/foru...ssageID=5469424) they advised this....
"check that you are using 32 bit depth for your Color quality settings in the Display Properties->Settings tab. ensure that you really do have Nvidia driver installed. Maya preset enabled. From Maya run openGLExtension -vendor openGLExtension -version openGLExtension -renderer to see if you are running Nvidia driver or Microsoft's Download and run glView.exe to see what OpenGL driver is being used http://www.realtech-vr.com/glview/ 93.71 driver is a lot newer and fixes a number of driver problems"
how do i "run openGLExtension -vendor openGLExtension -version openGLExtension -renderer" in maya? in installed the real tech glview and it give me this....
"NO hardware support
Your current video configuration DOES NOT support hardware accelerated OpenGL"
has this got something to do with it? im not an expert in all of this and would not want to be messing about with Drivers as ive done this in the past and had serious problems...please help!
not sure how to find out what graphics card i have.....i did find this though - NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 (Microsoft Corporation) in the device manager and the device seems to be working properly?
maya has worked fine before this (2 weeks ago) but recentley i have been performing some disk clean ups ect to enhance system performance...
so i had the idea of doing a system restore, but this cannot happen due to this "Changes made to drive(s) J:\ after this point cannot be reversed because the drive was either excluded from System Restore monitoring, or was turned off or removed"....
you think this could be linked?
regards Mike.
