Alias9.5 too slow on my computer

I have got a Dell 420 precision workstaion,double Intel cpu733,Elsa Gloria II pro video card 64M,512M rambus.OS is Win2k.
Yet it's slow!When I horizontally/vertically move objects with mouse button,the damn guide line appears and the menu bar goes black and disappears.I have to min/maximize the Alias window to restore.The same problem with putting cvs hori/vertically!!!
Another question is I can't adjust the value of min sub and max sub in the the 'windows/infomation/render status'dialog.Does this situation lead to the bad render effects.
Would anyone pls tell the trick to settle the problem?Thanks!

Hi - with regards to render status dialog box - you can adjust the min+max settings if you change to the v9.0 tessellator in the Render globals. But I haven't had any problems with render quality with the newer version...

I think you must have something wrong with the config on your system. The machine you describe is plenty fast. I run alias on my PII 333 at home and it works fine. Call Dell tech support and complain. They are usually very helpfull, even on problems that are not caused by them. Alias only rates Studio to run on certain types of hardware, but so far I haven't had any problems on any machine. I wish I could be more specific. Maybe a video driver problem? I seem to remember AW having a page that listed all the acceptable video cards and the prefered config settings and driver versions. You might look for that.

i had problems getting alias running, with oxygen gmx2000 on win2k, it was very slow to refresh and rotate simple geometry. At best guess there is still alot of teething problems with win2k, especially if it is a new line of video diplayer. your cards drivers havent been qualified by microsoft on win2k yet, as was the one i have. i had to return to NT and my problems were solved.
