Alpha Question

hi all,

I'm animating a boat that's being matched to traditionally animated water.

the problem I have is, when I render the boat, and use the alpha it leaves all of the boat's boundry. I was thinking perhaps I can use a plane where the water would be, and use a color Key to drop out the bottom of the boat. that just does't work right. and If I render it with a plane the alpha will use the plane as well.

Is there a way to block out geometry with a plane or something and tell it NOT to render an alpha and mask out the parts of the boat that are concealed in the plane? Or is there some way to use geometry to mask out alpha?

any help would be great.

Yes you can use geometry as a mask. You need to look into the
"Background Shader"

THAT is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thank you so much!
