Alt+RMB linux maya, driving me CRAZY

there's this one little thing in maya for linux that's DRIVING ME CRAZY!!. i'd love to use the alt+RMB hotkey, to tumble my scene, but alt+RMB is bound to moving windows by X and there's no way i can see to change this... is there ANY way i can get to use alt+RMB, or maybe remap it in maya to lets say meta+RMB or something like that.?

in your window manager configuration there is a place to change this. You'll need to gimmie a few more specific details before I can give more step by step ideas.

Im using a custom version of the popular openmotif window manager. Its kind of IRIX looking and its a smooth transition from the SGI look.

Anyway, we faced the problem by using Alt+Shift+RMB and then release the Shift button. It works but is sometimes a little bit frustrating. You can also go into your .mwmrc (if you're using a motif wm) and remap your "move" button binding.

You didn't mention what WM you where using, but I had the same problem under default KDE3 setup. If you're using KDE3 then you can change it by going to Control Center->Look & Feel -> Window Behavior -> Actions. It's the bottom setting in the window. You can either remap it or turn the ir off.

Well if you install motif i belive it does install mwm (a simple motif wm) alsa sgi, just add it to your .xinitrc and that dosn't use the meta kieys for anything so it shouldn't distrucpt your modeling.
