AMD 2600+ MP processors?

AMD just came out with a 2600+ XP processor, thebest model before that was a 2200= XP. However the MP (multiprocessor) configuration only offers a 2100+ MP. Does anybody know if there are faster MPs coming out soon. I'm going to geta dual head machine but I don't know if I should wait.

Though I really don't know if/when they are coming out, I would suggest you wait till after October if possible. AMD gonna probably be releasing their 2800+ by then, so they might update their mp's also. Plus mp prices will go down most likely when tehy release the new cpu. Thats what i would do.

I bought my dual mp 1900+ in may. By christmas, they will have single cpu's that reach the performance of my two processors. I wonder what there will be out by next May...

you don't have to wait till christmas for that....because the amd MPs still run a slower frontside bus they are limited to pc2100 ram and the single proc 2200+ and up machines beat the best amd MP system in everything but rendering, and even then the MPs dont scale that well, only like 30-40% faster. AMDs barely have enough bandwidth for one chip, two is really pushin it.

Who knows, maybe they'll upgrade the fsb of the mp's like they just did the xp's. Or maybe theyll just jump to the hammers and forget about upgrading them. wish i knew, heh. but dont buy a mp if you want more performance than rendering power.... simple as that.

but having two cpus is not always about using them in smp enabled programs and getting that vital extra power for rendering...... its also about being able to set one cpu to render while the other does your interactive stuff or whatever it is you wanna do. this can allow you to render while working without any real slowdown. or maybe run a game server on one and use the other to do some photo editing so it doesnt affect the server programs speed. my whole life is about multitasking...
