not so easy for me!
Hi guys, I'll make this quick. I'm new to Combustion and am just experiemtnign with light at the moment.
I have a scene, which has 1 light, 1 camera (duh) and two PSD images.
I created the two images in Photoshop-
The first one is just a 640x480 block of red colour, which I have laid on the floor of the scene in Combustion.
The second one is the same image, but with vertical strips of colour removed (vertically) from the block of colour (imagine a barcode). (the areas that were removed are now transparent).
I thought if I set up a light behind the barcode image, I could shine strips of light through to the other side, hoping that the light will cast stripes onto the image on the floor in the scene.
Forgive me if im using the wrong terminology (floor etc..) I have not had long to experiment so far. When I say floor in basically mean, placing the image 'on' the grid of the scene on the horizontal axis.
The problem is, I dont get the effect I wanted. The light does not shine through the gaps in the 'barcode block' image, and therefore does not cast a pattern on the
other image.
I've tried turning on ALL of the 'settings' when rendering (such as reflect, refract etc..) but it dosent seem to work.
I would expect that this is an effect easily achieved, yet I dont know how. I would also expect that the light shinging through the 'barcode block' would show in preview (when working in Combustion); that you wouldnt have to wait until after rendering to see the effect.
If anyone can er.. sorry.. throw some light on this (:-)), I would be greatful.
Like I said, its probably quite easy, and I thank you for reading, taking time.
P.S.
Is there another way to colour the 'floor' in a scene? (so I could make it black for instance), erradicating the need for importing a PSD with a block of colour.
thanks for the help,
