I have read the manual and tried to follow it but with no luck.
How do I use a black & white QT movie as an animated gobo?
Please, please, please....uh, please?
Thanks,
tianlong
Use the movie node in textures and map it to light color

Thanks, but I tried that and Maya won't recognize Sorenson, Animation, or Uncompressed formats/codecs.
More help out there?
why don't you kick out a sequence of images and use those. it's not as heavy as a movie file for maya to deal with.
Thanks, but I tried that too. To set keyframes Maya wants sequential image files that end in NUMBERSand not file extensions. I tried output with After Effects and Maya Fusion (LE) but can't figure out howto output files like - alienWarthogDisembowlingMeekPasserby.tga.001
Any ideas? I mean, really. Why is it so difficult? Shouldn't Maya just be capable of using any old QT/AVI orimage sequence (image001.tga) as an image file?
I mean, really.
Most renamers can change file naming structure to file.ext.###. AfterEffects can do this as well. When you type your filename in for the Render Queue, using the following syntax:file.tga.[#]
The Sequence911 renamer in the downloads section of this site will do this quite easily for you.
Save the image sequence in this format - name.####.ext, Maya will read this no problem and AE can save in this manner - I do this all the time.
