Hi All,
I created a file sequence of jpgs from a camera projection map over a landscape - so I could create a leading edge of the effect I am after. I apply this as a texture - UV Y-axis projected down on the surface of rocks/debris combine into 1 poly object. When I play back from the top view, I get a nice "ring like" sweep of a white line (very jagged) across the surface.
From the camera POV it almost matches up with the timing of the extended explosive reveal.
I create a simple particle emitter, enable texture rate emission and have it emit from the surface.
IF I STEP THROUGH the sequence, all looks and works fine.
COOL!
Cache time. I write out the particle cache and when I load it up/play it back, ONLY the first frame of my file texture is used to emit the particles from. WT??
I animate a simple circular ramp from the center outwards to the edge = WORKS.
I added opacityPP and rgbPP just in case.
Where did the convert to BOT go in the preferences for 2014? I have it on for the particle sequence- but I want it to do once - write to disk.
So, as of right now, I am thinking of trying to cache each frame and them joining all the caches together - STUPID.
This should be simple.
Any thoughts as to why the files on disk are not being updated? Is there a way to KICK maya to update this? Hum - maybe write a per-particle expression...
Thanks for listening.
Chris
