Animation layers and custom attributes

Animation layers and custom attributes, does it work?
I am looking into Animation layers and seeing lots of buggy things about it.
Number one weird thing is the way custom attributes are treated.

for example the animLayer command does not return custom attributes when -animCurves flag is used but if I use -attribute flag then it returns all attributes.
