Animation Speed

I have a ship moving slowly through the ocean. How can I slow the animation other than in post production? In post production when I cut the frame rate to say 10 fps it makes it all jerky. Also, what does it mean to "scrub the timeline"?
I need very slow smooth movement of the ship through the ocean. Any ideas?

"Scrub the timeline" just means to slide the current frame point back and forth. I think.

You can change the frames per second in the settings. Go to:
Window > Settings/Preferences > Preferences > Timeline > Playback (Half [12 FPS] or 24 FPS)

Also check this:
Window > Settings/Preferences > Preferences > Settings > Working Units > Time: (either Film or NTSC - PAL for the Euros)

The previous answer could help, but u need 2 do the reverse. if u r running at 24frames/sec and you want 2 half the speed u must render out at 48 frames a second and play it at 24 frames a second. U must set the keys to update to move to the new positions when u change to 48 frames. U can also now changed it back to 24 frames but make the keys stay in position. Playing with these setting is not the right way to do it. Rather go and check out windows/animation/graph editor. In there u can move the keyframes and for your purpose select all the keys of all the attributes and scale them up. This is the right way to do it. U can also do it in the timeline but learning the graph editor will be of great help in the future
