Annoying mouse over UI

HI!

Am I the only person annoyed by that mouse over thing in the UI that activates and moves a floating window to the front if you move the mouse over it? Crap unix UI functionality - I remember being equally annoyed back in the old SGI days...
Is there any way to turn it off?

in Xsi 1.5.x : File -> User Preferences -> General -> Give Windows Focus when mouse enter them (uncheck it)

in XSI 2.0.x : They make this check disappear! I can't find it anywhere!

Perhaps you can do it with a script but I really don't know how to reach preferences with VBScript.

I thought it was me just failing to mentally adapt fast enough to "advanced" work flows.

i never realised how much my mouse swooned drunkenly around the screen. Now im given a irksome reminder every time i fall off the edge of a panel.

I think it stems from the habbit of moving the mouse around in small circles (rate proportional to stress levels) whilst waiting for applications to respond.

I think i could get used to the new ui "assistance". Im not sure what condition could dictate what panels i want to react. i dont want exhaustive check boxes independantly on each panel, a global option seems a bit heavy handed,

obviously we need something pluged into the "BRING THAT ONE TO THE FRONT!" or the "NO THE OTHER ONE!" neural node........

LOL - know what you mean. And the time it takes for the application to respond is inverse propotional to the time left untill the deadline
Keep them coming, it seems too strange that Soft would remove that function in v2

HAHAHAaa thats some funny stuff. Thats like a guy at work that zooms and pans aimlessly while modeling . He does it really fast , they should make a sport out of it hehe

I do. The "Highlight window with focus" was a remnant leftover from DS and had no effect regardless of setting, so it was removed. The "Give window focus..." was found to be a culprit of other bugs in the software so it was hardcoded to the proper setting then removed from the preferences.

In other words - the option to choose between wether or not you wanted the "Give window focus..." was removed from 1.5 to 2.?

Yes, when windows weren't given focus, other areas of the software became flakey. Therefore the preference was hardcoded to always give windows focus, then removed to prevent users from causing their own problems. Don't ask me why, that's just what happened.
