Another quadro fx question

ok, now from what i hear the quadro fx(2000) supposed to get u the fastest rendering times right with maya 5? and with 4.5 to? and 1 more thing, for better rendrings also, would u upgrade mem or cpu? or the viseo the main thing? my bad for dumb questions, but ok, peace

ok heres the deal. Forget most of what you just said.
the NEW hardware render features in Maya 5 ONLY is basacaly an improvment to its hardware renderer .
Where you can get more sophistcated hardware rendering.
This is NOT true rendering as most of us thing of it, in a true rendering situation your graphics card still has nothing to do with it.
If you want to speed up render times , its mostly about your CPU, your motherboards front side bus, and to some extent your ram.
What your graphics card will do is be lightinging fast when you are working on a project. AS you work your display will update and everything will move fast becosue the card is computing what you see in your viewports. This again, has nothing to do with what we regard as a true software based render.

alrighty thanks alot

"This is NOT true rendering "

To be more precise, it should be distinquished between software and hardware rendering, and it would be wrong to say software is 'true' rendering and hardware is not. Both are just simply different ways of rendering.

Software is cpu bound and the render engine relies on pure computational power of the processor and no special hardware. Hardware render on the other hand is bound by specific hardware, in this case the video card. The benefit of that is it uses the dedicated hardware graphics pipeline that was created to calculate 3d graphics very very fast, hence, hardware rendering is many times faster than software. But the quality suffers when you get down to it compare to software. And that is just because our hardware real time technology currently is still not up to par when compared to software rendering .. anti aliasing, motion blur, texture quality... etc.

However, with the advances in real time technology these few years, real time rendering quality and features has improved dramatically and for less complicated imagery, the quality is getting close to what software rendering can do and that is what Maya 5 has incorporated. Support of the latest hardware for its new hardware renderer. Now you could have quality and features that could not be obtained before with hardware rendering, but the flip side is you will need proper hardware to gain these benefits fully.

mm ...didn't I say its not TRUE rendering as we think of it? opps i acualy said thing of it hehe..anyway
thats what I ment. But good info non-the-less
