Yes, the ninjas are fighting on the correct keys. I had many orchestral scores at my disposal. I animated the keys first, and then animated the action in conjunction with the keys.
I rendered these models in Maya. For each model, I did about five hours of research. It's always best to get to know your model inside and out before you start. I scoured the web for as many hi-res images that could find. Webshots and Google are two sites that I use the most for hi-res images. I also look for blueprints and scaled drawings for dimensions. Once I have a good grasp on how the structure is made, I then feel comfortable enough to jump into Maya.
These models are over 95% polygons. I selectively use NURBS. I use Boolean subtraction like crazy. I can get great results this way. And with most real-world structures, math plays a big part. You should really have a good sense of geometry when creating models like this. There are angles all over the place.
As for lighting, I use fake illumination: a dome of low-intensity directional lights surround the model, with a single full-intensity directional light as the shadow-casting light (the sun).
yea i had thought it was similar to the GI_JOE script from PIXHO...thats man for the info . Great job. l Certianly look slike you planned out your models well.
