I am trying to create a head with nurbs patches, following instructions of several tutorials. My question is: how do I attach the lofted patch of the eye with the rest of the head?
If I try to simply attach the two patches the hole of the eye patch get filled...
the whole idea of paching is not to attach the shapes but rather keep them separate!
altough you can group the shapes under one trensfor in wich case they will share local space and move as a single unit!
ive recently changed my workflow to incorporate ths it make certain operations cooler since it acts as one surface from the users point of view unlike grouping.
Why is it better to keep patches separate? I have read a tutorial in which a guy after patching a head extracted nurbs curves from different patches and lofted them to make them seamless. Is it this a correct procedure?
not really you don't loft patch surfice in most cases you do it manually point snap and use stich tool to attach patches together and if you are not familier with nurbs patching suggest to get more info as far as it require several rules to follow and takes lots of patience this procedure may be time consuming requires to rebuild curves attach detach align also tangency, continuty so forth
he did it so he can attach after why course u he will have to go and make sure all spans are matching each other in U and V direction and isoparms before he attaches to the rest of the face plus when u patch u most likely keep your patches separate in order to go and rebuild all curves then detach them and then use boundary tool
if it could be done with one surface then why bother patching... the whole idea of patching is that one can do things that are not normaly possible with four sided surfaces....
