Why dont you just non-maximise (restore) the main Maya window, open Attrib Ed as separate, resize both windows to desire, hide Chan Ed if you arent using. Make sure The attrib box border overlaps the main window's border (abut it against/over pannel ports and you actually recover a few screen pixels), and presto you got the size you want, PLUS greater attribute display depth (in terms of the # of attrib data listed). Hmmm, dont even restore main window, keep it maximised and expand the channel box out to match the width of the attrib ed you want, then just lay teh attrib ontop of it (if your using packed shelves during texturing, then restoring maybe better). Also, have you played with toggling off windows' 'Attach to main window'? Have the attrib pop at that ctrl-a, or other attrib ed invoking command (like a dbl click on shader, RMB context MM on obj, etc), and when your done with it just click upon your way in the main window and it will drop away, no need to minimise ....even more screen estate this way. Or just learn a little scripting and build your own interface, i know i will be. Or revive that 5 year old PCI card and 14" monitor, and dump it there. Pretty flexible.
