Auto Depth Of Field With Measuring Tool

Hi,

I am trying to automatically have the depth of field update when I move around a certain object.

I have created a measuring tool that is parented to the object and the camera. I am just unable to work out what I need to load into the connection editor and what attributes to select in the connection editor.

Highend3D had a tutorial but the page seems to be down.

Any help would be appreciated!

hey,
now that you have your distance nodes created, open up the connection editor, and load the distanceShape node in the output, and the cameraShape in the inputs. Then connect the Distance to the Focus Distance. Thats it.
just make sure that you have one of the two locators created for the distance, parented to the center of the camera.

I have one other question.

Every think is working except I am unable to look through the camera correctly now that the locator is parented within. Because the locater is parented to the camera it selects it when I select the camera. So I am unable to look though the camera correctly.

Also I have tried selecting the camera and try: view> select camera but then it un-selects it.
