Whenever I try and asign a texture to hair, it crashes.
Whenever I try to render 'Geometry' hair, it crashes.

For the texture to be projected on the hair, you need to first assign it to the gemetry and create a texture support. Then transfer that support into the hair, using the transfer map button.
The only thing I could think of for the gemetry failing is that you might have too many hairs and it's crashing the computer.
geometry hair needs a lot of ram. the higher hair count, the more ram you need.
Volume dosent need more ram, it will just be slow with more.

i dont think he means render the hair as geometry.just that the texture requires a texture support to project it onto the underlying geometry (eg, the skull)Jolly good
