My batch render isn't working and no one seems to know why. I'm trying to render out some animation in NTSC (eithor video file or stills to be compiled into video). Right now I'm progressing it frame by frame and saving each render, but with over 1,000 frames I'll never get any sleep. Can someone please suggest a better way?
Yes, batch render it
But the problem is my batch render isn't working, i recieve the error, Error: Cannot find an available port in the script editor
What about the command line editor? Save your file, open up a shell, go to maya
I entered that into start -> run and it's working! My god it's working! Thank you so much dunkelzahn, I was at frame 76 and on the verge of losing my mind. I owe this night's sleep to you. Thank you again.

No probs man! Sleep well...
It's a miracle you managed to survive that far.Personally I'd rather do something awful like use 3dsmax than render frame by frame manually. It kind of defeats the purpose of using the computer
indeed... but to be totaly honest 90% of computer users tend to do thiskind of things, wich is realy wierd, its like something elementary about computer usage would be missing someehere down the line.
Well, one needs to start somewhere at the beginning. Some do with POVRay and some do wih Maya...
im not actualy talking about that... im talking that theres a lot of people who dont know the simplest things of comandliens. And thius nothing of scripting or automation.
And thats basicaly what 3d is about so to fill the blanks isnt much to ask.
Anyway if it starts form commandline but not within maya then somethings worng!
Computer is not a magic box. Computer is a machine. And machines are all about automation. If you want to successfully use computer you must understand the concept of automation and how it is realized to full extent using a machine. And specifically using a computer which is a machine capable of emulating any other type of machine. Othervise you are just a clicking monkey.
you have to crawl before you can walk
thanks again dunkelzahn

Yeah, and when you stumble you have stand up and keep going!
BTW, hope you were able to catch some sleep!
yeah but using commanlines and troubleshooting execcutables is crawling and maya usage is the whole damn jujizu repertuare with tai chi on top
Hai, Sensai!
