Batch Rendering Problem...

I am working on a project. Maya won't batch render anything. There is no error message it just stops rendering after one frame. I am using Maya Unlimited 6.0 on a windows platform. Any suggestions as to what could be wrong? I have changed all the settings to no avail. It will render multiple frames in Software render mode.

Please advise.

Any chance the first listing is in verbose mode? If not how do you toggle it on? I thought I click it on in the Render Globals box.

Yeah. It only renders 1 frame. Whichever frame the playhead is resting on. I just reinstalled the whole thing too. No luck. any suggestions?

The previous post is exactly the same listing I get when I check on all the verbosity options. When I type "-v flag" in the command line it says "Error: Syntax error".

See the "Export verbosity" drop-down list? What's selected there?

-v flag needs an argument in range 1-6, so -v 6. And is meant to be used with either render shell command or Mayatomr mel command

Haha!!!!!!!

I figured out what Maya is doing. Even though I had the render settings set to Mental Ray, it was still using the "common" settings tab from Maya software. Changed that then switched to Mental Ray, and everything works. Seems like a round about way to get things to work...but it works and thats what matters.

You are right. I just noticed it. There are no shadows in my render which means, that even though I had mental ray selected for the render method it did not work.

Anyone have any ideas what the problem might be?

Sorry, if this is a stupid question, but did you render from a command line or from within maya...?
If from maya... is mr properly initialised (reload mr plugin and check for any messages...)?

Ok. So I rendered from within Maya.
The mayatomr plugin is loaded and when I unload it and reload it there are no error messages.

When I did unload it and reload it here is the message I got in the script editor:

As far as I can tell that looks normal to me. However when I render in mental ray it even says "Rendering with mental ray" but then goes ahead and renders with maya software and all the setting that go along with it.

I am so confused. I've used maya off and on for a year or so and have never had problems like these.

I know this chain sure looks like it died, but I'm having the exact same problem!!

I set it to mental ray, I click the batch render button, and it renders intead with the software settings. I have the metal ray plugin loaded. I even set metal ray to my default renderer. Nothing helps. I'm using maya 5 but like I said, the problem is indentical.

Please, if anyone has any ideas, I'm scrapping the bottom of the barrel so hard I'm starting to wear through it!

The problem has oddly fixed itself. I have no idea why or how, but its suddenly started working. I reinstalled maya, shut down every other plugin I had, nothing worked, but then suddenly it all started running fine. shrugs I'm not gonna look this horse in the mouth for sure.

I m also having same problem.Instead, when i use mental ray for rendering it dosnt render at all or shows the previous rendered image with no update. I m confused .
