Boujou export to Shake

Hello,
I am working in adding shake export features to the next version of Boujou, and I would like to know the opinions specially from the people that work with Boujou and shake (althought the opinions of all shake users will be welcome).
What would you prefer to get as an output from Boujou in order to use it in shake? Tracker nodes? Cornerpin?
How would you like the export process to be?

For the nodal-pan, I think it would be best to get a tracker node. So in shake the user can link the trackX and trackY to a move2D or mode3D node.

For a free move, i'm not really sure what would be best. But here is some Ideas I have. Let me know if that makes sense.

• One thing I would love to do is be able to export selected track or the gold tracks. Each track or prediction point would be imported as a seperate shake tracker node.

• An interesting option could be to be able to put a 2d plane in Boujou. You could then export to shake as a cornerPin. The 4 corners of the boujou plane would drive the 4 corners of the shake cornerPin.

• It might be better to use a cornerPin for this, but having the scale information of a track might be good to have. I explain: I select a boujou track or prediction point, at frame 1 boujou consider the point to be at scale one. As the point moves in space it calculate the scaling. So the prediction point exported in shake would give me a move2D node with panX, panY and ScaleX information. But like I said this might be the same thing as my cornerPin idea.

I agree with Kobayashy on all his points.

One additional thing I'd add is the ability to stablize a shot for different parameters.

1) Stabilize a pan
2) Stablize a rotation
3) Stablize a scale.

And the ability to do the inverse of any of these of course would be nice.

Okay I asked the dept and so far have these replies

tracker nodes and stabilize are the obvious ones

although we have found BOUJOU tracks to be slightly flaky when used direct in a stabilize node, i.e. they just stop working for no apparent reason ... work around appears to be import the track into a track node and reference it to a stab. node.

some things that would help with the tracking in the interface would be

1. view selected tracks/predictors/locators only

2. an ROI feature as we cant playback the sequence with the trackers ontop in anything approaching real time ... perhaps something like 3DE where you can view a realtime playback of a single tracker with the image stabilized around it

seriously though, why not just make it a choice in boujou as to what you want to export? pull-down list of tracker, cornerpin, matchmove, move3d, etc?

This is what I'm thinking would be nice. Use shakes sudo 3d space with the Move3D node.

I would second the option of being able to export to a tracker node or a corner pin. At the moment having to load 8 lots of data (4 by XY) into a node is pretty tedious. So anything that speeds this up will be appreciated. Would there be way of loading all the tracking data in one hit? I suppose the ideal would be just to say 'make tracker/corner pin' in Boujou resulting in a node made automatically in Shake, or the updating of an existing node

Whilst you are updating Boujou can I also suggest the following (Already emailed to Ed)

1) I can only lasso a rectangle round tracks in the 2D mode - could it be a bit more flexible like the polygon mask?. I cannot really make out in 3D what I want to select.

2) Quicktime files imported into Boujou need to have the .mov extension. A clip digitized in FCP will not have .mov attatched. If you add the extension in the capture scratch folder, FCP thinks its a new clip and cannot find it without re-linking. I know Apple are trying to move away from .mov with FCP and Shake.

3) Could you add the use of the + and - buttons for zoom in/out? Shake works well like this.

4) Apart from outputting tracks, predictions, gold or otherwise, once I've managed to 'glue' a plane to an object, can I export some 'virtual' points off that plane? Sometimes there is not a convenient point close to where a corner pin might be need to be 'pinned'
