what do you guys think? im in the process of making an animation of this, but for now what do you think about this still?
This has been done a hundred times;-) I think the DOF is too extreme. I can't really see enough detail in the pins scratches etc.. the stripe on the throat of the pin is crunchy.. The neck of the pin is too thin and the "head" is too large.

Hey, great start!... You might want to fix that texture on the pin there (i'm sure its on all of them). The lane looks like its carved from the same peice of wood. Most lanes have a random pattern of light and medium dark strips. Also I beleive that bowling pins are either really polished like mirrors or all chipped and dull- either or would really bring it to reality.

The Depth of Field is too strong. If you think about it: Most bowling pins are being watched with a telescope lense camera. Nearly all should be sharp here...
