Does anyone want to share their experiences with Boxx systems......... they look great?

they suck.

They have no technology or services that makes them any more able to build and support a computer than anybody else.

They just take off the shelf components and slap them together just like everyone else.

At Siggraph for the past 3 years, I have watched their HDBoxx crap all over it'sself during demos.

If you can build your own (or have a friend do it), you'll get a better value.

How do they run HD uncompressed video, it must be all in the add on cards, I was a bit suspect when I checked out the website, I assumed they must make their own motherboards or something like that, if these are off the shelf parts this would have to be the biggest rip-off since sgi pc's !!!

Now I realise where the name comes from, they make the box that holds it all together, reminds me of the new TV homer bought, the carnivale, with 3 prong wall plug and plastic case to prevent "fallapart"

last I checked they were using the Viewgraphics VideoPump as the hardware I/O and Speed Razor as the UI - not too innovative.

We are getting a kick-ass render afrm- same basic specs as BossTech- from the 3D Shop, who by the way are the best vendors I've ever worked with. Great service, support and parts all around. Have used them for many workstations and a few servers over the past 3 years and they rock all the way. Go to www.the3dshop.com. If you call ask for Tony Hale. He is a great guy towork with.

My understanding from discussions with them is not that they use better hardware but that they are able to enhance the BIOS specifically for the purposes of the Boxx. They have offered to benchmark there boxxes vs any vanilla boxes out there. I cannot confirm this.
