Basically I have a budget of 500pounds or 1000dollars for a workstation excluding monitor, OS and software to run 3dmax, solidworks and photoshop.
Am thinking of a qudacore q6600 based unit with Asus p5k motherboard 4 1gb 8oomhz sticks of ram and a fairly lowend GPU Nvidia8600gt or similar all in a Antec sonata 3 500w case.
Would be running Vista home premium 32bit.
Hopefully you can see all this now so any comments, advice or help would be great!
In that case it woukld be best not to spend the money at all. I mean just teh software alone will be costing you about 10 tines the cost of the box.
Apart from the OS which will be about 100dollars I have all the software from the machine i am currently using
well it still doesn't make sense to use atleast 6000$ worth of software on machien that costs 900$ unless its a backup system of somekind. But yes we can get what you are saying.
i just built a budget machine that kicks a$$
intel dx48bt mb
xeon quad 2.6 w/ 12mb cache
4gb DDR3 1600
512 ddr3 video card.
total with some peripherals was 1600, could have easily done without the DDR3 & a cheaper MB & gotten it down to 1k with pretty much the same render times i think.

Dont do this:
type text int a word proccessiong application
copypaste it to the message field.
Why because word prcessors converts make quotation marks and so on into typographers marks. Now theese haracters are WAY off in the character list. Now internet Works on mostly ascii text and those ranges are just not available ergo the forum rejects this as a possible escape attack. In it self its a big but very common one.
