I was wondering if anyone has had this issue or if it is my setup.
I am using Nuke 6.3 and Maya 2012 with the latest fbx plug in installed.
I have no problem getting animated cams in from Maya usually using Nuke It plugin..all good. However this is the first time I have tracked in Nuke and exported into maya for placement. The problem comes once I have written out an fbx from nuke and place it in maya...getting it back.
I have tried a number of things and all have failed. First I have found that .fbx does not export animation. I even tried exporting a moving sphere to no avail. I have turned on 'animation' in the fbx export prefs.
Secondly I went back to the ol tried and true Nuke It plugin that I use normally. But when I export the chan file with this method the camera comes in with rotation animation only!!
Has anyone done the round trip and lived to tell the tail?
edit:
I usually remove the camera from all groups before exporting however...for some reason these cameras are shifted to the wrong spot when you unparent from the group.
Edit2:
I have solved it by constraining a new camera to the tracked one and baking out the animation onto the new camera before exporting it with Nuke It.
Anyone with an easier method please chime up. I would love to know how to get FBX actually working.
