I AM ON MAYA 7 FOR THE REST OF THIS PRODUCTION AND THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT

I have a normal map (run through the normalBump2d plugin) and my object has a facing ratio node plugged into a ramp plugged into reflected color, for the "sheen off the edges" look.
But I would like to know if the information in my normal map (dents and scratches etc) can be taken into account in the sampler info node's facing ratio. Because right now, I get a flat grad reflection on the object (which is quite simple mesh-wise) and it looks wrong.
How would I hook this up in the hypershade, if it's possible to do?
