Card 3d Card Node, Why Bad?

I'm going through the Intro to Nuke DVD's, and the narrator glosses over the 3d card node saying, it's old, it's bad and it'll cause all kinds of trouble. Can anybody tell me what to expect with this? I'd like to know what kinds of pitfalls are there with certain nodes.

wow, really?
I'm sure Rob had reason for that but the 3D system has changed since and I personally quite like the Transform3D node (assuming that's what you mean).
If you only need a single card I personally would actually recommend using that instead of a 3D Card attached to a ScanlineRender node as it has quite a few benefits:
It acts like a Card, a TransformGeo and a Render node all in one
It keeps the bounding box and is therefore a lot faster than a 3D scene/card going through the render node
It concatenates transformations upstream and downstream (3D objects obviously only concatenates upstream since their downstream consists of 3D nodes)

That's just my personal preference though.

I never had much problems with it as well. But if I remember correctly by that time there was a lot going on nuke in terms of changes especially regarding 3D related stuff.
So things that worked great in a .10 for instance wouldn't provide you a good experience in a .11 version.

I would say that if works for you and it's there use it
