Cartoon cheracter model

Hey there everyone.

This is my first post, I see alot of good work on this site and thought that I could get some good crits and info by having you guys take a look.

A little BG info:

I have a bachelors in Computer art w/ focus on 3d. I have yet to land a job and am currently taking some time to concentrate on building a strong portfolio geared towards a modeling based job at a pro animation studio.

Just F.Y.I.

I'm nearly done with the basic anatomy of this guy but I feel that he is too plain. Penguins have a pretty basic shape to their torsos but I want to make this little guy more interesting. I am trying to think of some props or clothes that would give him more cheracter and better show off my modeling skills.

let me know what you think of the model so far and if you have any suggestions as to props or clothes like a carpenter belt and hammer or something like that let me know.

Looks pretty good.. as far as props go I guess it would depend on if you have a larger idea in mind .. since penguins live in a cold environment maybe it would make sense for it to have a parka or maybe a diving suit or how about swimmign trunks?

gamsk: thanks, and I kind of like the swimming trunks idea. Or maybe even some of those water wings that kids wear:)

I guess to maybe encourage some more people to post some ideas I should explain in further detail what I'm going for with this guy.

I like the idea of a mixed up cheracter, I was trying to make him look kind of clueless by the way, I kind of like pushing the idea that he is unable to do basic penguin type stuff like swimming.

Bermuda shorts and water wings? What do ya think? Any other suggestions?

no idea what water wings are (guess i don't go swimming enough)

I'd suggest those little floaties kids wear. might hinder his arm movements, which could either be funny, or make the animation lacking.

maybe some swim goggles too, even if he wears them up on his forehead.

sithos- Hey thanks for the feed back, as for the explanation for water wings...they are those little floaties that kids wear. and I like the goggles idea I may put a pair on him. Thanks.

I have pretty much finished the guy but haven't posted it here. Sorry bout that but after no feedback for so long I just concidered it a lost cause and forgot about it.
