On first impression, it does look like a student reel, and I doubt it would get you a job. Always put your best animation first and don`t put everything you have ever done, a good reel can just be 30 seconds long and only needs to be more if you are very good at what you do because you will most likely have more to show.
I felt nothing about the acrobatic thing, I had to look at it a couple of times to make it out.
The green running creatures have no sense of weight or center of balance when they are running. Their expressions are nicely done just the movement is too ridged and the timing needs work, also the feet are disapearing through the floor. The one that tumbles over the edge looks more like he threw himself over it might look better if he just dropped rather that flew out of shot to the right.
The Gollum/ET with green hair thing hard to tell what hes really meant to be doing... if he climbed right on top of that stone whilst shielding his eyes from the sun/wiping sweat from his brow then it might be more interesting and believeable his shock/surprise expression just doesn
t need to be there because the viewr cant see what he
s looking at.
The tomato`s are for advertising? or just art?
The present dude... that might be something you could turn into good character animation. Id like to see that developed maybe he unwraps the box in secret with his back turned to the audience to make them curious and develop something from there. I find the character cute so it
d catch my eye more than any of the previous ones.
You could drop the tie man and the pan down on the building they have no importance...
I really like the style of your 2D animation even though it is limited it does have a certain appeal. But maybe not even necessary unless your applying ot places where those skills will be used...
The illustrations could be dropped aswell...
This is just my 2p`s worth, just going on a quick gut feeling
