Child's Head Model

Hi here's a model i've been working on today, i'd like to share, i like the model i guess so i'm going for the realistic texture/render. I think i 'll try to take the low res version of the model in to zbrush to see how that works out. I also want to take one and try to texture in photoshop (uv-map), just to see how i like texturing best.

I'm not a star in texturing yet, so if anyone has some nice tips for this model, feel free to share, and tel me what you think of this model.

The profile looks elongated. Tough baby heds can sometimes bee bit loopsided when newborn. did you use reference? And if you did what age are you aiming for.

I didn't realy used a reference pic, only looked at my own kids running around. For the model i'm aiming at about three or four.

The way i see the jaw is to far from the neck, or the neck is to thin (and therefore is to far away from jaw).

In that case you have a classic disproportion to the thing yes. First off the distance form the eyes to top of head is almost exactly the same as form jaw to eyes (for child the top is a bit higher so that might be okay as it is). Eyes are smack middle as is the rear its halfway between jaw and back of the head as well as from the underside to the top. (measure your child, they can stand still fore that long). And yes teh face and jaw are too far left.

Also yes the neck is much much bigger mostly again for children there might be some variation but not that much.

Ok so here's what's need to be done;

neck a bit bigger
front of the face a bit more towards the back
also i don't like the nose too much (i want it a bit more up) and i think the lips are a bit too large.

but other than that, a nice model... innit?

Yes again rule of half is in order the mouth is halfway between eye and chin (measured form middle of eye and bottom of chin). nose height is about equal too.

Ok I'v tweaked a bit and i think i have the proportions right now, but i want to check anyway... The longer you look at your own model the worse you can see for yourself...

Anyway here's the screenshot, iv put it next to a drawing of child proportions i found in google images:

Still the jaw is way to far away from the neck. But thats the only problem that i can see here.

What you need to do is to move the whole front part of the face back (quite a bit).

Aight... tweaked around the eye, pushed the front of the face back. I think this should be it and i can move to the next stage; creating a texture map. Tel me what you think of the model.

Hm id say you should push the front back some more, and move it up a bit.

Ok I've been moving verticles around the whole model, added some detail around the mouth/chin area and ajusted the general shape of the skull, I think i got it right now, but when you spend to much time on a model you can't see it so clearly anymore. Here's a picture: The photo of the boy is not the model i'm trying to make or anything, it's just there to see some proportions. Underneath i've placed all the in-between steps to get to the current model. Please tell me i've got it right this time...

ps Next model is going to be a fantasy figure for sure...

Oh yeah man, thats sweet...now you have to texture it .
