Clearing The Cache/buffer

I've noticed that when using Nuke 5.1v.1 my HDD space will increase. I'm assuming this has to do with the cache that is being written onto the drive for faster loading. However, when I quit Nuke, my HDD space does not come back. I noticed I had lost over 5 GB of HDD space just from this. I had to restart the machine to get it back. Is there a way to delete this cache (if it is cache)? Where is the directory where I can go to delete it manually (if I have to)? I'm on a Mac, by the way.

NOTE: I've tried going to the Render drop down menu and clearing it that way but it didn't do anything.

I figured out the cache is coming from the invisible hidden "/var" folder. Is it okay to delete the Nuke cache folders in there? I don't have anything important to save from Nuke.

Yes it is fine to delete that folder. Those are temp files nuke creates during use and does not delete when exited. It is also where you Framecycle frames (assuming you have not another app for viewing) writes yours test images. In fact it is often good habit to clear our that folder once in a awhile.
