Cloth and IK

Hi All,
I'm in the process of learning cloth for Maya, and I'm having a bugger of a time extracting the information I'm after from the manuals. Does anyone now of any tutorials that explain indepth how to animate a character with IK wearing say a dress?

Is there a paragraph in the manuals that actually tells you how to use cloth with a character that is bind to a skeleton? I can't find it for the life of me..
