Cloth animation problems

I'm trying to use transform constraints (pg 114 of the manual) to animate cloth and having no luck with them. I know I must be doing something wrong, but exactly what escapes me.

I was wondering therefore if anybody could point me in the direction of some cloth animation tutorials, just to get me started.

There are a ton of tutorials and directions in the maya Help/MayaCloth... inside the program.
