Cloverfield Monster Concept

Hey Everyone,

This is my first post. I modeled and textured this guy for my final project for my lighting and texturing class. It was a cloverfield concept that I kinda took my own direction as far as texturing goes. Looking for some feedback as I am not too sure about the texture. It has a color, bump, and spec map applied to the Maya SSSfastskin shader.

Well the lighting is a bit too uniform. Also would be nice if youd put in some internal parts thst would block the subsurface scattering

I tried putting geometry inside but it did nothing to block the SSS, i wasn't sure what the problem was.

As far as lighting, would you recommend a light set up? I kinda winged it with 2 spot lights in the back, a key light from the front side and fill light from the other side. Maybe assigning some rich colors to them and playing with intensity would help?

The sss only sees objects in the same SSS tree for the internal SSS sim. So make a shading switch that makes part of the objects black in sss then assign them into same network.
