Command Line Compositing On *nix

I have a question.

Are there any softwares that can do compositing in batch/command line mode.
Can they output quicktime or wmv on linux?
I know open source tools like ffmpeg and mencoder etc but they cannot output the formats I am interested in.

Can shake or other softwares be used in an automated manner?

Shake 1.0 was only a command line compositor and can still be used as such today. Shake for Linux can't output Quicktime or WMV because there's no Quicktime or Windows Media Player for Linux. It's not because Shake didn't implement it. Shake can do everything else you mentioned with ease though.

Automation does not help if it cannot output movie for my requirements.
This kinda sucks that no software will output quiktime and wmv even though its available on its available on linux.

I dont care much about wmv right now.
If some software can encode quicktime with sorenson v3 or h.264 that would do.
Is there any compositor which ships with quicktime codecs for linux ?

And thats about it because a software bsuiness cant rely on hacks that will get them sued eventualy!

I am curious if you have this set up working.

Last time I tried installing qucktime codecs on linux it was a pain to get it working with mencoder nd transcode.
The other thing is I am looking for encoding using sorenson v3 and h.264 for quicktime.
In this light are there any apps that would do so on *nix?
Pointers appreciated.

Again same problem you msut use hacked binaries wich is allways pain!

You don't need hacked binaries. It just a matter of downloading the codecs and copying them into the correct directory. They are all in a simple bzip file on the mplayer download page(look under codecs):

The default install just doesn't include support for wmv, quicktime, real and other commercial codecs because technically they are in the grey area like including mp3 support or ntfs support. So commercial linux like redhat and suse don't like to include them by default in fear of being sued. More opensource companies without any commercial backing(gentoo), make it a simple download/install with their package managers.

Yes the binaries are the real ones but the rights to them arent thats why tehy cant be packed.

Anything in gray area is allways hack by definition So jut because you use right binaries the connectivity into them is not totaly leegaly ona sound ground.

Problem is thet its just hard to say if they are stolen or not. I wote they are stolen but i use them nonetheless

libquicktime supports decoding of Sorensson V3 through FFMPEG.

It also comes with a couple of examples for using the library, so no need for hacking
