Another stupid question:
I saw on some tutorial that you can have a scroll bar at the bottom of the render view window to compare your last few renders... but I don't see it on my window. How come?
I'm using Maya 7, is that why?

Ok, I found the "Keep image in render view" option in the "File" pulldown menu, but do I have to click this guy each time I want to keep a render?
On the toolbar in the render window, the little icon that looks like an arrow going into a bucket saves the current render. Well, it doesn't save it to disk -- it puts it in the queue.
If you want to "keep" your render for good(like after you turn maya off and on)you have to save it to your hard drive like jpg, bmp whatever....
Actually it does save it on disk! MAya just goves ist a very temprrary name.
thanks guys I really needed that, now I understand how to tune a scene properly! (w/out IPR that is)
By the way - can this whole little queue be saved, for when you reopen the project and you want to continue tuning?
Sure... nt in fornt of my computer right now tough. Basically save the files out and then reload them on file resume
well, that sounds like a lot of manual work.... you don't happen to know where maya puts this stuff do you? so maybe I could just copy the folder somewhere and then recopy it back when I get back to work....
make script that does this its just one for loop.
found this, does exactly that and more:
