Compatible graphics card

Hey everyone. I'm a motion graphics designer without a lot of technical knowledge so I could really use some advice.

I need a new graphics card that's compatible with my compaq presario 8000 pc (pentium 4, single 2Ghz cpu, 1 GB ram).

I have the nVidia GeForce 3 titanium 64MB DDR 4x AGP card but am having display problems when using Maya 6.

Alias doesn't recommend using any of the GeForce cards so I was thinking about the Quadro FX 1100, but am not sure it's compatible or whether the FX 700 will do instead. Would appreciate any help. Thanks!

I'm assuming your computer has a maximum AGP bus of 4x. Personally I have had problems with putting 8x board into 4x slots even though they should be backwards compatible.

You could try either of those boards but be sure to buy it from a place that allows returns for a cash refund or you be stuck trying to sell the board on ebay.

I have a couple of FX1000, brand new sealed in retail PNY box. I will sell one for $450. and yes, I guarantee a full refund within 30 days.

Thanks! I plan on creating some sophisticated particle/dynamics effects on Maya. How does the fx1000 hold up?
