Compositing in After Effects, could not parse file

i keep getting the following error message whenever i try to import a maya-rendered frame or sequence of frames (IFF file format) into Adobe After Effects 5.5:

"After Effects error: the file format module could not parse the file. (45::35)"

I go to FILE -> IMPORT -> FILE (or MULTIPLE FILES), I then select my rendered image(s), the file type is automatically detected as Amiga IFF format, "import as footage" is checked, I click OK, and then I get the error.

I looked in my AE plug-ins folder and I have the Amiga IFF plug-in.... isn't that enough?

I can import other file types without any problems, just not IFF files. anyone know why?

Maya IFFs are not Amiga IFFs. It's evil I know. but you have to replace the Amiga IFF plugin with the Maya IFF plugin. and even then it can be tricky. Unless you REALLY need to render in Maya IFFs it's best to pick someother format.
I've only found Maya IFFs to be useful when you're going to put them right back into Maya

Afterfx 5.5 supports maya iff files nativly. Before 5.5 you had to use the maya iff plugin for photoshop. It is very buggy. Best bet is to get 5.5 or use another file format. Sgi, tga or tiff.

Beaker, i have after effects 5.5, but i'm still getting the error message. you said 5.5 supports maya IFF natively? what am i doing wrong?

Just open it in FCHECK and then save the animation as TIFF's or TGA's
