How do I match the angle of my camera in 3d to angle of my camera that shot the video footage? I tried putting a still image one a plane...but that doesn't work since the plane is moving with the camera movement. is there a way to project an image into the camera so that the image isn't changing based on camera movement?

As I understand u want to do compositing of 3D animation with some video? 
If you want to get the camera movements from the video you should go to some compositing software, for example Nuke and you can make there some camera tracking and then load it into 3D software.
