Well yes, but you can fix those issues with drivers. It also fixes all other possible applications not just maya so it ssaner to use ergo firendly hardware thet has good drivers.

point taken, but 3d software such as maya (not familiar with many others) is crazy in terms of the amount of click dragging involved and its not even on one finger so it cant be easily substituted with a pen
What do you mean i use maya with my wacom pen all the time. The dirver is pretty nifty and configurable so i can easily bind all functions so thet i need not use the other mouse buttons (or the extra pen ones).

moving your wrist is so bad for you.
You move your wrist while you use the mouse? Well no wonder you get problems your not supposed to, your supposet to keep the wrist straight and use the sideways movement form your elbow up.

there are those of us, in the thousands easily, who for whatever reason- be it not enough knowledge of ergonomics at first, unergonomic equipment supplied at school/work site, stress, etc, who have devoted years to learning animation and would like to find a way to continue once something happens.
Umm, yes. But thing is if you newer bothered to ask then its your own fault (i mean theres a frigginbg warning of take care of ergonomics in most sold mouse packages). Thing is whenever i hold class i TELL people to manage their ergonomics. For one thing i teach how to hold the mouse and so on. Do they listen, nope. Well thet young people for you. Anywya you cant enlighten people if they dont want to.
But the main problem today is thet people use laptops (which is a ergonomics problem uppon itself).
anyway this is sort of a Americanism, to understand somethings dangerous to you needs to be warned. oh come on.
But mostly the problem is not that people wouldn't be aware of stuff, they usually are aware f the fact that you should take care of ergonomics. They are just trying to be cheap tough their life. Because the bottom line is getting proper ergonomics costs ALOT of money.
Well anyway theres laws that the employer must take care of ergonomics here and doing ergonomic upgrades costs no money for the company, or if you wqork at home (tax benefit), so maybe im a bit better of then 90% of people in the world.
But yes i do understand people dont do ergonomics, for example to get good ergonomics at home i had to pay 3000 euros alone for furniture (for this setup overall under the years i suppose ive spent some 6000 all in all, and yes i spent it as 0 income student too, and because i was a sutudnet no tax benefit). Point is tough i started before problems (So no back on neck pains), I dont see thet many people putting that money on ergonomics, especially when they complain mayas expensive. But thing is thats the price.
Life is choises, you make them good or bad.
