Converting Quicktimes

I am running Debian Linux, and I want to convert some quicktimes into tiff sequences. Apparently, convert cannot do this. Any suggestions?

An interesting question: normally we want to do it the other way round! Have a go with ffmpeg or mencoder. I know they should be able to read the quicktime, but whether they can output tif sequences i'm not sure. What you may have to do is output a yuv stream, then pipe that into yuvtoppm followed by ppm2tiff.

lol what i would do on max was load the quicktime as a background and re-render it as tiff output frames. but this is assuming you have 3d max/maya/xsi/shake...

You could extract frame-by-frame data from quicktime movie using quicktime4linux or libquicktime, both of them comes with a couple of test programs. The big problem is that non of them handles all of the encoders/decoders found in Apple Quicktime. Although, most of the frequently used in encoders/decoders are supported! Think with the help from ffmpeg even sorensson 3 is now supported for decoding!
