copy keys

is there any shortcut to copy keys in maya..either in the graph editior or dope sheet....similiar to the shift key in max...thanks..appreciate reply.

there's no shortcut....you can't map a key to it in the hotkey editor either.....

i use a mel script on my shelf (dragged text in script editor onto shelf) but this doesn't work always...

A good thing is to use the middle mous button in the timeslider
select the object go to the key you wanna copy (timeslider)
hold down the middle mouse button, move the time slider to the point you want to copy the key (so you don`t get any update) now you can set a key with the old values at the new position in time

Here are some ways of using copy + paste:

1: Create some mel buttons on your shelf
(highlight + drag the commands from the script panel onto your shelf.. or press CTRL+SHIFT+right mouse button on the menu command you wish to put on the shelf)

2: Tear off the EDIT>KEYS panel then you can move it around the screen and place it where you want.

3: Select keys using middle mouse on your timeline .. then use right mouse button on the timeline and select copy... then move timeline or select object to paste to and press right mouse button again on the timeline and select paste.

4:Select channel from channel box on righthand side... right mouse and copy.. right mouse paste..

Just a note about hotkeys
If you can do it in mel you can also define a hotkey for that mel in the hotkey editor
