hello there,
this topic is about a problem i have with uv-ing in maya. I am searching for a tool in maya or a mel script or other solution to copy uv's within the same object.
ok i didnt state it very clear so let me explain it in further detail.
imagine a house with multiple windows.. the house is a box and all the windows are the same. you made the windows so they have the same number of vertices etc. apart from a different location in the object they are quite the same.
What i want or trying to achieve is to map just one of these windows and then copy these uv's and apply them on all the other windows.. so you get all the same uv locations for each of the windows (overlapping uv's ).
so the steps i would take would be these:
map a certain amount of faces containing one window
map them well
select those faces with the uv's you just mapped correctly
copy uv's
select same number of faces containing a different window
paste uv's
done ![]()
i dunno if this i possible but this is what i tried till now:
i used various melscripts, but none of them worked till now, or just didnt had the function. i tried functions in maya itself
like mesh clipboard actions - copy/paste attributes. this works the way i want but only face to face, so you cant select a bunch and then copy and paste.
i hope i stated my problem clearly
tx in advance
