Hello everyone. This is my first post here and i wanna thank you for all the stuff i learned in this forum. I have just bought a new machine and i wanna share with you the results after benchmarked it with an Opteron and a Pentium D. The software used was Maya 7 and MayaSoftware renderer. I know that there are some benchmark softwares out there but i wanted to see the actual software how it performs.
The scene used was simple with some lighting, nothing extreme, 170 frames and ONLY polygonal geometry. No post rendering at all. All three pc's had 100% CPU usage.
My computer:
Core 2 duo E6600 2.4Ghz (Overclocked at 2.8GHz)
MSI P965 Neo motherboard
2*1GB Corsair DDR2 667 RAM
Nvidia Quadro FX 1400
Win XP Pro SP2
Stock Intel heat sink, 2*12cm chassis fans. Max CPU temp on rendering 47C
Total render time at stock speeds 2.4Ghz: 25min 5sec
Total render time after overclock at 2.8Ghz: 21min 27sec
2nd Computer:
HP XW9300 Workstation
2 * Dual core Opterons 270 at 2GHz
4 * 1Gb DDR 400 ECC Reg Kingston Ram
Nvidia Quatro FX 3450
Temp on rendering: N/A
Win XP Pro SP2
Total Render time: 22min 39sec
3rd Computer:
Pentium D 930 3Ghz (Overclocked at 3.6Ghz)
Asus P5WD2-E Premium Motherboard
4 * 1GB DDR2 533 Kingston RAM
Win XP Pro SP2
Sapphire 6800GTX Graphics Card (I am not sure if thats the correct model but its 256Mb's)
Thermaltake Tai-Chi chassis with liquid Cooling
Max CPU temp on rendering: 56C
Time to render: 32min 59sec
I hope that these results will help some of you to make your decision when buying a new pc or upgrading your system. I have tested the E6600 for stability after the overclocking by leaving it to render for 24hours without any crashing or hanging. Btw my E6600 system costs $1100 while the HP XW9300 costs more than $3000.
Your are welcome to post your comments or your own benchmark results.
