Is there a tool in Maya like 3D Studio Max's lattice modifier that turns the edges and vertices of a mesh into poles and joints? I'm trying to find an easy way to make frameworks quickly, as in the naked skeleton of a wood frame house or anything with a solid framework under its outer covering.

I'm not familiar with MAX, but perhaps the createWire script here under mel scripts>modeling will help...

Yes, that's exactly it! Thank you. I had a feeling this procedure might be addressed by one of the scripts on this site, but as I looked through them, none of the terminology was clicking in my head.
