As I understand it dg nodes are displayed in the hypergraph (dependency mode). I want to create one of the nodes listed in the dag node reference, via mel.
createNode "copyUVset" -n "test" -p "subdivSphere2Shape"; creates a node but it seems to be blank ... ? addAttr doesn't seem to be what I'm after.
You have to look at the attribute list either with a listAttr command, or in the connection editor, as none of the attributes show up in the channel box or attribute editor.
Also, you won't be able to parent this node, as it only exists in the DG not the DAG.
thanks that helps a lot. I can now connect nodes up and see their effects and learn from them. btw what is the difference between DG and DAG. I assumed that DG was a weird abbreviation of Directed Acyclic graph
DAG refeers to how the parent child mechanism iterates the positions by post multiplying matrices. And because it needs to be predictable it cannot be cyclic. Since then the whole perfrmance of ita ll would be thrown out of the door and it would become a simulation (wich offcourse can be done but as allways it carrues some problems inherit with it).
in dg you are however allowed to do as many loops as you wish its only your ability to predict the outcome that sets the limits!
